History
Recognizing a need for access to the Arts in the community, the City of Hollywood began the Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center (HC-PAC) project in 1994 as a community facility and collaborative effort between the School Board of Broward County and the City of Hollywood. The facility was originally designed to hold over 500 patrons without a lobby or adequate office space. Under the original management, in 1999 the city broke ground on a major expansion for the theater including a classroom, cafe, lobby area, and main offices. The following year the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood was contracted by the city to manage HC-PAC and provide performing arts programming for the community.
Since its inception HC-PAC has been an active community institution as well as the primary facility for Art and Culture Center of Hollywood performing arts and education programming. HC-PAC is the only major performing arts space within 5 minutes walking distance from the famed Downtown Hollywood
